Palmer Street Residence
We are undertaking an extensive renovation of this 160-year-old rowhouse in Historic Fishtown. The compartmentalized floorplan survived unaltered since the house was originally constructed. Many layers of flooring, drop ceilings, drywall laminations, and a 1980’s bathroom and kitchen were carefully stripped away. The new design prioritizes openness and flexibility. Fixed millwork and large furniture are strategically positioned along exterior walls to maintain uninhibited and flexible interiors. The second-floor redesign creates two larger bedrooms with improved storage and a more gracious bathroom out of the three existing, small rooms. A third story addition offers a stylistic contrast while taking design cues from the existing house.
